Weather: rain & thunder started end of set 1; show abandoned due to
rain/thunder (DSOT ?)
Misc: reported to be the time when the Floyd had to cut a show short
due to the weather. But Gilmour had a great sense of humour
about it.
Annonces: during WYWH, Dave was playing the second guitar part. During a
pause, he stretched his arms out and looked up in the sky with
a bin groofy grin and seemed to say, "Why me?"
After the song, the rain picked up and he told the crowd: "Hey,
the weathers supposed to be like this in England, but not in
Texas!!!". The crowd shouted, and the band played on... for a
while, anyway.

Misc: Fifteen minutes before the band came on stage, a tape of sound
effects began playing over the sound system. Initially the
sounds were of wind and surf crashing on a beach. River sounds
followed and then an occasional "ping" from "Echoes." A plane
"flew" around the speaker system and then some machinery and
construction equipment which seemed to be taken from the end of
"Crumbling Land." "Cluster One" was next and the stadium lights
went out. (AD) The volume of the introductory effects tape in-
creased and faded into the introductory radio bits of AD. As far
as I could tell, these sounds were identical to those on PATGOD.
Gilmour, Mason, Wright, and Pratt take the stage and cut into AD.
Annonces: (before WDYWFM) DG: "Good evening! We're going to play some
newer stuff first and then some oldies. This is a new song from
The Division Bell album and is called What Do You Want From Me?"

Misc: (from bear) : yet another clue that we're not operating in a
a vacuum.......remember that the "is dave using the talk-box"
query was shortly followed by the 2nd rose-bowl version of KT
that had about 4 minutes of Dave "talking" to the audience.
So Dave, if you're listening: you don't have to feel silly
singing about an albatross.....just do echoes with one of the
very early lyrics (e.g. the one in our faq describing planets
sitting in space.)

(before CN) DG: "thanks for coming out tonight, we're going to

This is the only time they played "One Slip" (that is, until the

Annonces: DG greeted us without comments on the weather, just a quick
something along the lines of "thanks for coming."
I don't recall any statements about new or old stuff in either
set....just music.
OOTD was followed by a simple the announcement of a 10-15 minute
break.
During the 2nd half Dave introduced Dick Parry on sax (right
after U&T ? and Tim Renwick on guitar (after ABITW2) but otherwise
there wasn't any particular banter that i recall, just the "thank
you very much..."
Encore ended as other nights.

(show started at 8:40, :10 late)
Venue: ?
Weather: Rather heavy rain during the 2nd set
Misc: (from Doug Hackworth)
The entire show went flawlessly, with no goofups of any kind
by the band members or anything. Show started with speakers
playing a few sound effects from the beginning of TDB, then
they came out and started playing AD.
2nd half rain, but they kept playing anyway since the stadium
is partially covered, so the stage and most of the audience
remained dry), and the lasers reflecting off the raindrops
added a nice effect. A truly marvelous thing was that the
lightning accompanying the rain somehow cooperated beautifully
with the music, and would flash at all the right instants, i.e.
on downbeats, etc. On "Run Like Hell" Guy Pratt replaced the
repeated "Run" at the beginning with "Rain."
Several solos were extended by quite a bit, especially CN.
Annonces: Pretty much the same as before
Dave introduced Dick Parry at the start of the sax solo in Money.
Because it was raining heavier at the end, Dave said, just before
CN, in a Texas accent "I didn't think y'all was supposed to have
this much rain in TEX-uss..."
As they are leaving after RLH, Dave said "Thank you very much indeed!
Goodnight. Thank you for your lovely Texas weather..." and then a
couple more thankyou's and goodnight's. Whyen he says 'lovely', his
tone of voice hints that he's VERY ready to get off the stage and
indoors (and I can't blame him -- it was pouring, and COLD!)
Recorded: DAT: Superb quality (equal to DSoT ?). Pressed in a limited
edition CD.

Weather: Cold
Misc: The show started at 8:15 with the playing of sound effects
(much like the start of THE DIVISION BELL); This went on for
about ten minutes.
(from christopher mark donnell) : Well, the show I saw was
definately not 'pre-recorded' at all. Astronomy Domine didn't
come together as well in the very beginning (it was definately
live)... Dave messed up the lyrics on 'WDYWFM' and came in late
(he was tuning up) in WYWH (they went through the whole first
phrase again then Dave came in)... also during a solo in WYWH
he dropped his pick.. the sound was kinda muffled for a few
notes.. then there was a slight pauseand it was stronger again
(he had grabbed a pick)...
There were also lots of times during the show where Dave seemed
to be playing to solos a little longer than the band thought he
was going to. There was one song (I can't remember which) where
the whole band was watching Dave for about 30 seconds with this
look like 'when the hell is he gonna finish' coming from them.
Annonces: (after LTF) Dave: "Hello we're happy to be here, this is our
first time in Alabama". Then his ripped into WDYWFM.

In "What Do You Want From Me", instead of "You're so hard to
please", Dave sang, "I do my best to please".
In the middle part of "One of These Days", during the bass part,
Dave got up from the slide and checked on or fiddled with
a piece of equipment and then walked to the side of the stage and
watched Guy play the bass. He seemed to be saying something to
Guy and smiling and/or laughing.
(in CN) The mirror ball rotated for a long time during the CN
solo. After some time, it stopped, rotating slightly back and
forth, then it started up again. Then it eventually began to
open up, bottom first, then the top. I won't know until I see
them a second time, but it seemed to me that the ball would not
open, which gave Carter Finley an extended CN solo :-)
'Course, I'm just guessing here. It definitely did not open for
quite some time.
During the intro to "Run Like Hell", Dave gave an extended break
between his guitar riffs, and the audience started banging their
feet on the seats and clapping in unison for the drum part. It
was rather cool.
Annonces: (after LTF) Dave gave a slightly drawn out "Allllllllllll
riiiiight" and then proceeded to say pretty much what other
people have reported from other concerts.
(before CN) DG: something about 'that's all the time we have, we
have to go now, but first heres a song for you, its called
Comfortably Numb.'

Venue: Outdoor stadium
Weather: F**king cold (according to Nicole). Cold (low forties), windy
with drizzle
Misc: (from Matt Denault)
Sound was excellent, except for some bits in KT that were hard to
hear. Random bits: The end of KT was drawn out a minute or two
longer than on the album. The guitar solo on "On the Turning Away"
may have been drawn out, and the solo on "Comfortably Numb"
definitely was. Some of the others (Sorrow, OoTD) also seemed
longer/different than the DSoT versions. "Great Gig..." was very
different from both the DSotM and DSoT versions -- they just sang
the song differently. The guy sitting in front of me was thrown out
for having a video camera. I heard on the radio that MTV was filming
the show, and saw several videocameras set up.
Annonces: DG mentioned that this was their second show at Foxboro, and thanked
the crowd for coming out in the cold and wind and rain.

SOYCD: Incredible Parry solo
GGITS: They added some sax, and it was also a damn' good idea.
As for the singers, nobody will replace Clare Torry.
CN: The giant mirror bowl glowing, the crowd going crazy, a
5-minute solo by Dave. I thought the roof was going to
fall on us!
HY: Good bass playing by Pratt. Dave exactly singing as on the
album. "But it was only fantasy..." sung by Dave, last
versee sung by Carin (better Waters than ATD-waters...)

Weather: Perfect: not too hot, wind blowing the smoke into freaky patterns
in the lasers; clear, starlit sky :)
Misc: All three nights (at least 2 and 3 june) 'mother' was replaced by
'philly' in RLH. Also, in WDYWFM, "You're so hard to please" was
replaced by "I do my best to please" (same for some other shows
I have on tape). On 940602 lyrics for KT (breathe now/drowning)
were sung in the wrong order. Some interesting drumming at the end
of some songs (not on the other nights or roio's!). In Breathe:
"...Straddling the biggest wave..."
Other tidbits, from the 06-02 show in Philadelphia: A friend who
saw it told me that during OOTD Gilmour and Guy Pratt were having
a little discussion that looked like a disagreement. Just as the
voice came on saying "One of these days I'm going to cut you into
little pieces" Gilmour pointed at Pratt and mouthed the words of
the song. Kinda funny. Then at the end of OOTD, as the pigs fell
to the floor Gilmour looked over at one of them and told the
audience "I guess he's bacon now!" before announcing the break and
leaving stage.

Performance nearly flawless and VERY tight. Only flaw detected was
a small goof by Rick on the opening chords of GGITS. Quadraphonic
speakers were louad and clear and the sound system was impeccable.
Solos of Sorrow, OOTD, Money, CN and RLH were DEFINITELY significan-
tely longer than on album or DSOT. Lasers and brights intense and
well choreographed to the music. All were in fine voice, better
than DSOT. Left Pig's eyes went out halfway through OOTD. At the
end the pigs crashed to the ground. In RLH Guy sang "send you back
to Winnipeg in a cardboard box"
Annonces: Mostly the usual fare, ie "Hello, and thank you very much indeed!",

Damage during rehearsal before the show (16h00). I have 1 minute of
it on audio tape!
DG sang "Yes I do!" after "Lear jet" in Money.
Annonces: Middle of first set DG says the same thing after saying 'sorry
for the delay because of the fireworks, they sure were pretty
weren't they?'. At the end he says "we'll see you again"

Weather: There were thunderstorms in the afternoon, some rain before and
during the first set.
Misc: During Money, they did about 10 seconds of improvisational Jamming
that probably wasn't scripted because the swaying chicks on the
back of the stage didn't have ANY clue what to do, and you could
see Dave and Nick laughing at them... I was dying! Ah, the
luxury of good seats. During RLH, "money" replaced by "D.C.".
The middle part of PA was very extended live, and the video showed
a bunch of bare tree shapes scrolling constantly across the screen
from left to right.
Annonces: Stage announcements by DG were standard- "new songs and old
favourites,""15 minute break," etc.
Recorded: Video: - From floor, close-ups (150 min., VG), some audience
interference...a show in itself!

Weather: The weather was much nicer-sunny and warm. The band again came
out at sundown.
Misc: DG screwed up the lyrics from Money; instead of "dont give me
that goody good bullshit" he sang, "Grab that cash with both
hands...."
Annonces: Stage announcements much the same as previous night.
"This one is, ah what is this called? Oh, this is Comfortably
Numb". So said DG at the second RFK show. Hopefully he was
"only joking(ly) of course. :)

Misc: During On the Run they used same video as last tour (guy freaking
in hospital bed), also during OtR a plane attached to a wire slid
across the entire Silverdome and then crashed to stage right.
They old 70's video footage for Money and others...different then
7/14. Brain Damage and Eclipse were amazing with awesome video.
Brain Damage/Eclipse sounded as good as possible without Roger's
vocals. (Dave sang it, not Pratt or Carin thank god)
ACYL was nice, but unfortunately no jam-extension ...
The video for BD showed world leaders in funny situations (Bush
dancing with some girls in bathing suits, Clinton blowing his sax,
etc.) It was a good laugh.
Annonces: After DSOTM-set Dave said something like "I hope you enjoyed
this. We have not played this since '75". The crowd went crazy
and the band left the stage.

Misc: During OOTD one of the pigs was only about half inflated when
the spots came on. They did finally get it pumped up but it
was pretty gross looking in the semi-flacid state.
On the run featured the plane crash & video from the MLOR tour.
Crowd booed Clinton very loudly when he appeared in the brain
damage video. Reagan got cheered. Bush not nothing except someone
said "hey, it's Bush!"
In RLH, they sang "new york," instead of mother, confirming my
suspicion that northern new jersey is just an annex of NYC.
On the 17 and 18 July shows, Floyd had a new, really cool ending to
High Hopes, where after the guitar solo was over the synths kicked
in echoing the main theme of the song in decreasing volume. It was
a much better ending, I think, and was less "abrupt." Did they do
this prior to that (they did not at 2, 3, or 10 June, 30 March, 14
April or 22 April, fyi) ????
Annonces: After LTF:
DG: "Thank you very much. Thank you. Good evening. And welcome to
Giants' Stadium." [PdB: note: no 'indeed' ;) ...]
"Right, we're gonna play some music now from our recent album,
The Division Bell. A few surprises later-on, with a bit of
luck. And this is High Hopes."
After OOTD:
DG: "Thank you very much indeed. Thank you. We're gonna take a short
break. We'll be back in fifteen minutes. Yes, thank you."
After the Dark Side suite, ie. after Eclipse:
(some other voice ?)
"We'll do along and do it very soon " ?????
DG: "Thank you very much indeed. Thank you. Hope you enjoyed that!
Just a little somthing we knocked up this afternoon."
"Thank you very much indeed for coming out here tonight. We'll
see you soon. Goodnight. A few thanks to Roger for this, but
that's not what he wants. Goodnight."
After WYWH:
(somebody in the audience, not DG)
"Hey Barney, what's up ?"
(some other noise from sb. else, then the same person follows...)
"Jordan, Jordan, this is 17 here, you like the 17 ?"
After Run Like Hell:
DG: "Thank you very much, thank you and goodnight. Thank you."

Length: S1: ?:??. P: ?:??. S2: ?:??. P: ?:??. Enc: ?:??. Total: 3:00 ??
(started at 9.05; scheduled for 8.30; over about midnight))
Venue: Outdoor football stadium
Weather: It had pretty much rained all day, but stopped a couple hours
before the concert and stayed dry throughout.
Misc: Film for OtR was the guy sailing through the airport in his bed.
They also used the plane flying across the stadium and crashing.
(really cool)
Film for GGITS was cool -- a lot of slow-motion underwater shots
of waves crashing and a sunset shining on the water's surface. I
was unaware that there was a film for this...
[PdB: excerpt from Crystal Voyager, with music from "Echoes"]
Film for "Money" was different than that used earlier in the tour--
instead of the cool film with the aliens and UFOs and stuff, was a
collection of images of rich and glitzy people.
Film for "Us and Them" was also different than the first show I saw
(in April). This one was a long sequence of shots of crowds of
people walking about in city streets, etc., interrupted occasionally
through the song for lighting effects to take place.
Film for "Brain Damage" opened with a shot of the Ayatollah
Khomeini just as Dave sang the line "The lunatic is on the grass..."
Got a big laugh from everyone.
According to Rudi Riet, the film included at least:
Ayatollah Komehni, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, "Doc" Duvalier,
Geroge Bush, Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin, Bill Clinton, Henry
Kissinger, Muamar Gadhaffi, and probably a few others.
In RLH they sang "Jersey" instead of "mother".
Annonces: Note for ROIO catalogers; after LTF and the obligatory "hello,
thankyou, etc..." DG says, "Well, let's get on with it then".
At the very end Gilmour said "This is the end of our American tour"
and thanked everyone for coming to see them. Just before going off
stage he said "Thank you very much. We'll see you again."
It is also questioned that he said "Thank you New York" at the end
and then someone said something to him and then said "Oh, I'm sorry,
New Jersey". He doesn't even know what state he's in!
> No, I didn't notice that I wasn't really paying attention, though.
> I was still grooving on the fact that Tim Renwick started juggling
> 3 things during the solo/improv part of Money!!!
...and those would be guitar picks. He was *very* funny to watch
doing that, as the Three Mezzo-Sporanos (tm) started to crack up,
as did Gary Wallis. Classic...
Dave talked more. I couldn't really hear much of it, the people
around me went nuts. At the end he said something about this being
the end of the North American Tour and they're off to Europe.
Thanks for coming out, see you next time.
Recorded: Video: - DSOTM set
- Nice overall, frontal view w/close-ups. (150 min., Ex-)
DSotM included, but missing first couple minutes of
"Speak To Me".
- Shot from left of stage (145 min, VG+). Has first 3
songs from Detroit 7/15, but the DSOTM material is
complete.
